Gunns Timber Products' Perth Warehouse distributes products manufactured at all of our various production facilities to all parts of Western Australia.

This includes a full range of structural treated and untreated material, dressed and decorative boards, landscaping timbers plus a variety of jarrah products that have been manufactured at the Jarrah Milling site in Dean Mill and processing site at Manjimup. These products include decorative products such as furniture timbers, mouldings, panelling, joinery (millwork), jarrah flooring and decking.

The Gunns Timber Products team in WA play an active role in the promotion of timber use in Western Australia, and is proud to be associated with many industry groups in our efforts to advance the use of plantation and sustainably managed wood products.

Manjimup and Deanmill
Gunns Timber Products operates hardwood sawmills in the south-west of Western Australia, producing jarrah sawn hardwood.

In our quest to add value to our State's unique hardwood resources and remain at the forefront of innovation, Gunns has invested millions of dollars in state-of-the-art seasoning technology, including pre-driers and final drying kilns.

The in-house development of this technology has substantially reduced drying times of our unique hardwoods, allowing for more flexibility in the marketing of these products within Australia and around the world. This unique seasoning system combines with world class processing procedures to create a superior finished product.

Gunns' experience, technology investment and dependability of supply ensures that the company will continue to maintain its market leadership in the industry.

The company operates a processing centre that kiln-dries more than 85 per cent of the sawn Jarrah output for subsequent processing into seasoned decorative products such as furniture timbers, mouldings, panelling, joinery (millwork), jarrah flooring and decking.

Tarpeena

The Tarpeena operation is Gunns Timber Products' premier manufacturing facility located on a 40 ha site with a 520,000 tonne sawlog capacity supplied mostly by Gunns' own plantation resource.

The Tarpeena facility provides economic support to many businesses in the local area. Tarpeena uses the latest high speed scanning technology that optimises boards using ultra violet readable barcode data printed on the board after it passes through the stress grader in the drymill.

The drymill building itself covers 4090m2 with clear spans of over 30 metres constructed using Gunns Timber products laminated beam products. Tarpeena provides mainly structural framing timber to the Australian domestic building industry and it also supplies Gunns Timber Products' treatment facility at Kalangadoo with most of its timber products for preservation treatment.

Tarpeena despatches material to all areas of mainland Australia, and continues to lead the way in areas of service and quality.

Kalangadoo

A multi million dollar investment in leading edge technology involving kiln drying, steaming, CCA, T2, LOSP and Creosote treatment operations has made Gunns Timber Products Kalangadoo the leading timber preservation plant in Australia.

Significant works have also been undertaken to ensure that on-site environmental protection levels are amongst the best in Australia. State of the art preservation techniques are used in the treatment of Radiata plantation sourced timbers to produce the Gunns Timber Products premium treated product range. Gunns Timber Products Kalangadoo is a high volume, high quality producer of a broad range of preservative treated products, including post, poles and sawn and dressed timber products.

Tasmania

Having been involved in the sawmilling and timber processing industries for over one hundred years, Gunns Timber Products has a wealth of experience in all aspects of the timber industry.

Today the company saws and processes logs sourced from a wide range of private and state forests at its five modern saw mills and three value adding plants throughout Tasmania.

There are three species of Eucalypt used in the production of sawn hardwood. These species are Eucalyptus obliqua, Eucalyptus regnans and Eucalyptus delegatensis. These species are used for their superior drying and finishing properties.

Scottsdale - Frenchpine
Prior to joining forces with Gunns Timber Products (through the formerly named company Auspine) in October 2005, the Ling Siding site, previously known as Frenchpine, was widely acknowledged throughout Tasmania and mainland Australia as a producer of premium quality dressed and treated radiata pine.

This came about through the adoption of a total quality management programme, the Frenchpine operating system. This quality assurance system ensures a consistently high level of operation and provides an extremely high quality product, safeguarding standards for all our customers and employees.

Boyer and Somerset
Based around two production facilities, Boyer and Somerset in Tasmania, Gunns Veneers is Australasia's largest producer of sliced veneers and the world's largest producer of Eucalypt veneers.

The unique density and hardness characteristics of Tasmania's Eucalypt species has made Gunns Veneers one of the worlds most innovative veneer producers, with processes and equipment specifically developed to maximise the value of saleable production.

Gunns Veneers also have access to high quality pruned Radiata Pine and have built a substantial export market with this species.
