The Tarpeena operation is Gunns Timber Products' premier manufacturing facility located on a 40 ha site with a 520,000 tonne sawlog capacity supplied mostly by Gunns' own plantation resource.

The Tarpeena facility provides economic support to many businesses in the local area. Tarpeena uses the latest high speed scanning technology that optimises boards using ultra violet readable barcode data printed on the board after it passes through the stress grader in the drymill.

The drymill building itself covers 4090m2 with clear spans of over 30 metres constructed using Gunns Timber products laminated beam products. Tarpeena provides mainly structural framing timber to the Australian domestic building industry and it also supplies Gunns Timber Products' treatment facility at Kalangadoo with most of its timber products for preservation treatment.

Tarpeena despatches material to all areas of mainland Australia, and continues to lead the way in areas of service and quality.

Kalangadoo

A multi million dollar investment in leading edge technology involving kiln drying, steaming, CCA, T2, LOSP and Creosote treatment operations has made Gunns Timber Products Kalangadoo the leading timber preservation plant in Australia.

Significant works have also been undertaken to ensure that on-site environmental protection levels are amongst the best in Australia. State of the art preservation techniques are used in the treatment of Radiata plantation sourced timbers to produce the Gunns Timber Products premium treated product range. Gunns Timber Products Kalangadoo is a high volume, high quality producer of a broad range of preservative treated products, including post, poles and sawn and dressed timber products.
