December 1998 ISO14001 is a globally respected reference in relation to Environmental Management System implementation and performance. Gunns Limited was Australia's first forestry company to achieve this certification. November 2003 The Australian Forestry Standard (AFS - AS4708) is the national benchmark for independent verification of environmental, economic and social sustainability in forest management. Gunns limited was the first company in Australia to achieve this standard. October 2004 The Australian Forest Certification Scheme is mutually recognised under the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC), the world's largest sustainability recognition framework. This demonstrates the AFS meets the highest international forest management standards. November 2004 The Chain of Custody Standard (AS4707) is the national benchmark for independent verification to guarantee a trace back system from the finished product to the forest.
